A Lesson about Positive Affirmation I Learned from Alexa

We all like positive affirmation, but many of us feel we don’t get enough of it. That’s why so many people dream of becoming famous. Granted, you get some negativity when you’re famous, but the positives outnumber it by far. If nothing else, you can pay someone to say wonderful things about you.

How to be “famous” on a smaller budget

Everyone who has an Amazon Dot knows that Alexa can do amazing things. She can find information for you, play games, and tell you jokes. She even responds if you thank her for her help.

Say, “Alexa, thank you.” And she is likely to respond, “No problem” or “That’s what I’m here for.”

Should you say, “Alexa, you rock!” You may just get a thanks, but you’re just as likely to get a “You rock, too!” Sure, it’s a canned response, but it still feels kind of good, doesn’t it?

So, for a mere $50, you can theoretically have unlimited affirmation. Nice things said to you whenever you want? What a nice perk!

How to be “famous” without a dime

If you don’t have the extra money in your budget, you can still get your fill of positive affirmation. Just as Alexa responds in kind when you say something nice to her, people are the same.

Of course, there are the sourpuss jerks who never say anything nice no matter who you are or what you say. Most people, when told they look nice, will respond in kind. If you tell a person their hair looks nice or they are wearing a particularly fetching color, They will likely LOOK for something to compliment you on.

That doesn’t cost anything! Even the sourpuss may be worn down and start smiling and eventually compliment you. You may even find a new friend!

“Alexa, thank you!”

“No problem!”
