A Tribute to Strength

You’ve broken our hearts,

But you’ve made them stronger, too.

You showed us how to fight

The fight until the Father

Says we’re done,

And that seeing Him

Is the only way we’ll know

For sure we’ve won.

You fought with cancer;

You fought it year by year.

You fought to see your family

And the friends you held so dear.

You fought because you knew

Your work just wasn’t done,

But the day came when Christ

Told you your race was won.

On that day he took you

Gently in His arms

And took away your pain.

He held you closely

To His breast and

And took you home again.

He reunited you with family

That you had sorely missed

And stood by smiling

As every cheek was kissed.

After you reveled in heaven

And in the riches you had stored,

You fretted just a bit

For the souls you had adored.

I know that Jesus leaned

And whispered softly in your ear,

“They’ll be just fine. You’ll see them soon.

They will hold you ever dear.

You taught them well. You taught them true.

You may have broken their hearts,

But you made them stronger, too.”
