My Happiest Moment
I was challenged to write about my happiest moment from childhood. My childhood wasn’t particularly happy, but it was easy to think of one of the happiest times.
My mom was heavy and always going on one crazy diet or another. The problem was she rarely ever incorporated exercise.
I was about ten when she got really serious one time. Her meal of choice at the time was mandarin oranges topped with peanuts. That was one portion of the diet that stayed with her for many years.
This time she decided to implement an exercise routine, too. As a young girl, she used to enjoy jumping rope so that’s what she decided to do. She went to the store and bought two jump ropes. It was decided that I would exercise with her.
She wasn’t nearly as good at jumping rope as she remembered and never got more than three jumps in a row. I loved spending that time with my mom, and it had nothing to do with jumping rope. We laughed and joked, and I had a blast.
Eventually, my mom got frustrated and quit. Those three weeks remain my happiest memory with my mom.
