The Captain’s End

The captain sat upon his chair

Wondering why , oh why

He was sitting there.

He had sailed the seas

from north to south

to where they meet.

He began as a sailor and rose in the ranks.

He had thwarted pirates and

put the gold back in the banks.

He sat back in the chair,

watching clippers passing by

He wiped his brow,

but he dared not cry.

No friends did the captain make,

nor paramore,

Who came to visit when

he could sail no more.
