The Other Side

The other side of the new year is fraught with peril,

Fraught with dread.

What if I make resolutions, and then,

I fail instead?

The other side of the new year is populated

With new friends and old.

Which friends will be timid?

Which ones bold?

The other side of the new year has days

Short and days long.

Which ones will end in misery

And which ones in song?

The other side of the new year holds secrets

And holds joy.

There are new experiences for

Both girl and boy.

The other side of the new year holds promise

And holds wonder.

Embrace the good days, and forgive yourself

The occasional blunder.

I love to write and self-published my first book of poetry last year, a book of Haiku this year, and a book of short stories later this year!
