The Pattern of True Love
What took so long?
Jasmina bit her lip as she set the table for two. She hoped that Richard liked lobster and that this one didn’t turn out like a rubber ball. The last one was an epic failure. Maybe she should have tried something easier.
The furrow between her brows deepened as she checked the dessert.
This dinner needs to be just right.
Jasmina had been interested in Richard since Middle School. He had finally noticed her.

What is wrong with me? Richard wondered as he tossed the third shirt on the bed. Finally, Richard decided on the slate grey shirt. He’d been told it complemented his ice-blue eyes.
This dinner needs to be just right.
Richard had been interested in Jasmina since freshman year. He had no idea why it took so long to notice her. He checked the gift he had bought for her and grabbed his keys.

When Richard arrived, he handed the gift to Jasmina. She opened the box and saw a beautiful suncatcher. Delighted, she hung it in her living room window.
The lobster was tender, and dessert cooled just as they finished dinner. The conversation flowed freely.
“I’m so sorry I have to go. I have to work in the morning,” said Richard.
“It’s okay. I understand. We’ll have to do this again.”
“I agree. I’ve had a wonderful time.”

The next morning, snuggling her robe around her and clutching her morning coffee, Jasmina went into the living room to sit and relive the previous evening in her mind.
Her breath was taken away by the intricate and varying pattern of light on the wall. She had forgotten the suncatcher Richard gave her, but now, she couldn’t take her eyes off its brilliant display.
She thought to herself, This must be the pattern of true love!
