It came in the mail. I know it is odd to get your engagement ring in the mail, but this is an odd story.

When Joel proposed to me, we were on the beach. Is it odd that the ring was too big? Joel knew my ring size, but this one was too big.

Because it was too big, it fell off into the sand. Of course, we couldn’t find it. it was in the sand somewhere, we were sure, but it grew dark. The mission had to be aborted.

Of course, I was distraught but felt differently in the morning. We didn’t need a ring to be in love. We didn’t need a ring to spend our lives together. We didn’t need a ring to be engaged. if we couldn’t find it, all would not be lost.

We hurried down to our spot on the beach to look for the ring before the crowds trampled the area, but to no avail.

Today, the ring came in the mail with a note. The ring was found wrapped around a hermit crab. Once it was pried from the hermit crab, the woman read the inscription. From Joel to Loralei Together forever.

She took it to the hotel where they compared it to their guest logs. They found us and our address. It came in the mail.

Now, what should I do with the one Joel bought to replace it?
